At Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, we aim to reflect our values in everything we do - Kindness, Integrity, Teamwork and Equality. If you’re looking for an interesting and rewarding career in the NHS, where you can make a real difference to patients’ lives, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is the place for you.
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Consultant Radiologist to join the team at Harrogate and District Foundation Trust.
The post is for a radiologist ideally with an interest in Gynaecology and non-vascular intervention (NVI). Additional, secondary interests that are considered beneficial include head and neck and paediatrics.
Main duties of the job
The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and take into account an individual’s requirements. A typical week would be 10 Programmed Activities, including an allocation of 1.5 PA for Supporting Professional Activities. Saturday sessions will be on rotation when on call. Typically, radiologists work on-site for 4 days per week.
If desired, research activities can be incorporated into the job plan (subject to funding and agreement with clinical lead) by having 1 non-clinical day of the week dedicated to research.
Sessions will be discussed and organised with colleagues dependent on the special interests of the successful candidate. The Department has a policy of sharing procedural work amongst all those with an interest.
The on-call commitment will be 1:12. Arrangements are flexible and on-call is organised around individuals’ holiday and other commitments. The consultant is on-call from 8am to 8pm with outsourcing of acute CT to an external provider after 8pm. The Radiologists have access to PACS from home for on-call purposes.
Working for our organisation
The successful applicant will be based at Harrogate District Hospital, a successful Foundation Trust providing a wide range of medical and radiological services to the local community. We welcome cross-site working with other neighbouring Trusts to maintain tertiary specialist skills while still enjoying the benefits of working in a smaller friendly radiology team.
