Job summary
To support and contribute to the Pharmacy Informatics service, primarily supporting the Pharmacy Stock Control System and supporting clinical, operational and technical pharmacy teams with associated processes. This role includes a 1 day a week commitment to supporting pharmacy clinical teams working within the dispensary and/or ward level.
The post holder will be required to work shifts including late duties, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
* Support the management of the Pharmacy Stock Control System, and support clinical, operational and technical pharmacy teams with associated processes.
* Support the management of other digital products used within the department primarily governed by Pharmacy Informatics team.
* Support the management of the Pharmacy Informatics service according to Standard Operating Procedures and ensure safe systems of work in line with national guidance.
* Support and develop operational day-to-day management of the stock control elements of Pharmacy Informatics service.
* Support the performance monitoring of the Pharmacy Informatics service and driving best workflows.
* Contribute to testing of functionality resulting from pharmacy stock control software upgrades and advise/communicate staff of changes where appropriate.
* Identify, write, develop and maintain departmental and service policies and procedures relating to pharmacy stock control system and other digital medicines operations/processes.
* Identify, support implement and handover to BAU new digital stock control and management solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and digital providers to ensure best patient care.
* Contribute to the preparation of reports from the Pharmacy Stock Control system for Finance and Trust directorates.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
* Accredited Medicines Management Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment. Required for progression to band 5)
* Accredited Checking Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment. Required for progression to band 5)
* Accredited for Assessing or Coaching
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Proven recent UK hospital experience of delivering dispensing service as a pharmacy technician
* Proven ability to dispense medicines accurately without errors
Desirable
* Previous participation in audit or quality improvement work
* Proven recent hospital experience of delivering clinical pharmacy service as a pharmacy technician
* Previous experience of working within a clinical patient-facing environment
