Role Overview: As a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in delivering dynamic lessons in Physical Education (PE) while also offering additional academic and pastoral support to students across a wide range of subjects. Your responsibilities will involve assisting with both in-class and extracurricular activities, helping to nurture the talents of students in a range of sports while promoting the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle. Key Responsibilities: Assist the PE department in the delivery of high-quality physical education lessons. Support teachers in preparing lesson plans and resources for sports activities and physical development. Supervise and motivate students during PE lessons and extracurricular sporting activities, ensuring engagement and safety at all times. Help with the organisation and logistics of school sports events, tournaments and after-school clubs. Provide one-to-one support to students who require additional help with their studies, including academic subjects outside of PE. Encourage students to develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills through sport. Assist in the monitoring and recording of students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers on students' achievements in both academic and physical development. Support the inclusive nature of physical education by ensuring all students, regardless of ability, are encouraged and fully included in activities. Assist with classroom management, helping maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Requirements of Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA): A degree in a relevant field, such as Sports Science, Sports Studies, Physical Education, or another sports-related qualification. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or sports coaching setting. Knowledge and understanding of sports coaching techniques and physical development in young people. A strong interest in promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles to students. Ability to support students academically across a range of subjects, in addition to sporting activities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
