The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, who is able to ensure responsibility and accountability for patient care; and who is knowledgeable, skilled and competent to examine, assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, advise and discharge / refer patients presenting with a range of minor injuries / illness, as outlined in the departmental protocols for Emergency Practitioners.
Provide high capacity, low intensity brief interventions (see and treat) as part of the overall care model within the Minor Injury Unit. Provide operational leadership and ensure the delivery of high quality, effective, and compassionate care. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.
Main duties of the job
* Demonstrates the ability to examine, assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, discharge or refer patients presenting with a range of minor injuries / illness as outlined in the departmental protocols for Emergency Practitioners.
* Is able to work autonomously to see new patients and follow up patients and their families / carers with minor injuries / illness in MIU.
* Delivery of minor injury / illness in Emergency Medicine is based on policies, guidelines and evidence base to improve the outcomes and experiences of patients.
* Documentation will be accurate, legible and timely relating to current patient recording systems, both written and electronic. Information Governance will be adhered to and action will be taken to address deficits and or escalated appropriately.

Qualifications
* RGN/RN (Adult). Relevant post registration qualification relevant to this post.
* Evidence of own continuing professional development.
* Xray interpretation.
* ILS / PILS.
* Suturing.
* Wound course.
Experience
* Experience as ENP/NP/ECP in an Urgent Care /Emergency Department /primary care setting.
* Awareness of current Issues in the NHS nursing practice and education.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Decision making skills Understanding of appropriate health and safety legislation.
* Understanding of audit process.
* Proven use of evidence based practice.
