Carer – Permanent Night Shifts

Full Time – 36 hours per week (worked over 3 nights within any 7 day period)

About us
Bickham House is located in Bowden, Cheshire. Bickham House was originally the family home of the Bickham family. In 1948 Miss Helen Constance Bickham left the property in her will to trustees for use as a Home for Elderly People or distressed gentle folk. Upon her death, the Home was set up as a care home with charitable status managed by a board of trustees, all of whom are unpaid volunteers. Bickham House continues to operate as a non-profit making charity and residential care home, and all the monies generated are re-invested back into the Home for the benefit of our residents.

Your role
As a carer, you will be working with our excellent team, supporting our residents by providing all aspects of their personal care such as getting them to bed, supporting their toileting needs and getting them dressed. You’ll work with each of our residents individually throughout the night, catering for their individual requirements. You’ll help our residents to maintain their skills and enhancing their wellbeing through your compassion, understanding and patience.
Specifically you will:
* Provide care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, under the direction of the Senior Carers
* Support and enable residents to maintain their skills and delivering person-centred care unique to each individual
* Ensure that our residents are at the heart of care delivery and that their wishes and preferences are taken into consideration to enhance their wellbeing
* Work with our team to ensure an efficient running of Bickham House service
* Ensure care plans and other information about how to support service users are followed
* Inform the Senior Carer of any changes in needs of any of our residents
* Continuously promote and safeguard the welfare of the residents you support and care for
* Continuously work to develop effective working relationships with other team members at Bickham House
* Be a role model for other carers and an ambassador for the service and Bickham House
* Undertake such training and development as required in order to maintain and develop your knowledge of the Care Sector requirements and legislation.
About you
To join us as Carer, you will need:
* The right to live and work in the UK
* Ideally with previous experience as a carer or in a related field
* Knowledge of basic care giving techniques, for example moving and handling, using hoists and slings
* Ability to communicate effectively with our residents and their families
* Compassion and patience
* Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism
Ideally you’ll also have:
* GCSE (or equivalent) A-C in English and Maths
* A social care qualification such as Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
It is an expectation of all our staff to have vaccines or other essential health treatments, in line with Public Health guidelines and in relation to health and safety in an effort to protect yourself as well as others.
