Job Description
We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to contribute to the success of our Transport team at our Minworth site. As a Transport Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation. Ideally, you will be a highly motivated and driven individual, where you will have proven experience of working in a busy transport department along with the ability to deal with day-to-day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer.
Shift Pattern: Any 5 in 7 days (predominantly Monday-Friday), 10am-6pm
Salary: £28,500 - £30,200 per annum DOE
Key Duties of a Transport Planner:
* Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
* Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
* Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites.
* Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
* Accurately maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
* Reporting any problems and dealing with issues and queries that arise.
* Supporting the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
* Completing pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
* Delivering effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.
Qualifications
As a Transport Planner you will possesses the following skills, experiences and qualifications:
* Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
* Excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
* Have the ability to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
* Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
* Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
* Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
* Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
* Knowledge of SAP, Microlise and Road Runner would be advantageous.
