We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in housing projects, who is eager to take on a more senior role and eventually step up to become a Commercial Manager. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of housing construction and cost management, and be ready to take on increased responsibilities in commercial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Budgeting: Oversee the financial aspects of housing projects, ensuring accurate cost estimation, budgeting, and financial tracking.
Procurement: Manage procurement processes, including the selection and management of subcontractors and suppliers.
Contract Administration: Prepare and manage contracts, including reviewing and negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Value Engineering: Advise on value engineering solutions to reduce costs while maintaining the quality and specifications of the project.
Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular reports on financial status, forecasts, and project performance to senior management.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Mentorship & Development: Provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to the development of the team.
Future Progression:
As part of your professional growth, there will be opportunities for you to step up into a Commercial Manager role. You will take on greater responsibility in overseeing multiple projects, managing larger teams, and supporting the shaping of the commercial strategy of the business.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the housing sector (desirable).
Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost estimation, and contract management.
Experience with project financial management, including budgeting and cost control.
Ability to manage relationships with subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent) is preferred.
Experience with commercial management or a desire to move into this role would be advantageous.
