The Trauma Co-Ordinator will work within a close-knit team along with two other members.
The role includes coordinating trauma patients into our 28-bedded trauma ward and 6-bedded overspill bay on the elective ward along with 2 planned trauma cubicles. The coordination includes working with theatre coordinators and booking of emergency theatre space along with compiling the trauma list. You will be included in the trauma conference each morning.
Main duties of the job
* Compile and print the trauma list ready for the trauma conference
* Contribute in the trauma conference
* See patients in clinic and on the wards to coordinate their theatre slot and/or treatment.
* Ensure all tests are completed in a timely manner
* Liaise with the consultant body regarding planned trauma patients
* Liaise with Matron for allocation of trauma beds
* Enter data on hip fracture database and compile best practice tariff audit.
* Present best practice audit at clinical effectiveness meeting

Qualifications
* Recognised nursing qualification i.e., degree level
* NMC pin
* Evidence of post-qualifying training in acute care
Experience
* Post-registration experience within Trauma and Orthopaedics
Knowledge
* Knowledge of orthopaedic procedures
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Knowledge and skills in Research and Audit
* Ability to use appropriate data collection methods
* Possession of or willingness to undertake Non-Medical Prescribers course
* Possession of or a willingness to undertake x-ray interpretation courses
