The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support and assist in the operational management of the Palliative Care Service. The main aspects of the role will be to support the Nurse Consultant and team members to ensure the smooth running of operations and service delivery standards are met. The post holder will be based in the palliative care service at the Homerton Healthcare which provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to patients and their families at the hospital and Mary Seacole Nursing Home.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain realistic and manageable diaries.
2. Act as a first point of contact for telephone calls, using initiative to deal with issues where appropriate.
3. Organise all aspects of meetings/conferences, develop agendas, and ensure timely responses to deadlines.
4. Organise and run departmental education programmes, keeping an up-to-date record.
5. Attend departmental meetings, record accurate minutes, and disseminate them to relevant individuals/team.
6. Draft correspondence as required and attach any appropriate documentation.
7. Prioritise and forward incoming mail/emails to relevant individuals and handle routine correspondence.
8. Maintain effective communication between the service and the wider teams across the Trust.
9. Collate relevant information on behalf of the Nurse Consultant for business planning and various project initiatives.
10. Maintain the service’s spreadsheets and assist in data collection and analyses.
11. Assist the Nurse Consultant in ensuring all performance standards are met.
12. Coordinate and participate in projects as delegated by the Nurse Consultant and engage in service improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
