Fabric Engineer - Facilities Management Location: London Job Type: Full-time Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled Fabric Engineer to provide maintenance, repair, and minor installation work across various building structures and surfaces. The role involves ensuring that all fabric-related aspects of the facility, such as walls, doors, flooring, ceilings, and general building finishes, are well-maintained, safe, and visually presentable. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Repairs Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on building fabric, including doors, flooring, ceilings, and walls. Perform minor carpentry, painting, plastering, tiling, and basic plumbing works as required. Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard, maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of the building.Compliance & Safety Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with building maintenance standards. Carry out risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all work undertaken. Identify and report any potential hazards, ensuring corrective actions are taken.Operational Support Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and basic handyman tasks. Work closely with other engineers and subcontractors to ensure efficient service delivery. Respond promptly to helpdesk requests and ensure minimal disruption to site operations.Project Work & Upgrades Support small-scale refurbishment and improvement projects, including surface repairs and upgrades. Recommend and implement cost-effective fabric maintenance solutions. Assist in snagging and finishing works after major repairs or refurbishments.Key Requirements: Education & Qualifications: NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in a relevant trade (e.g., Carpentry, Joinery, Painting & Decorating, Plastering, or Multi-trade). Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH, PASMA, or Working at Heights (preferred).Experience: Minimum 3-5 year's experience in a fabric maintenance or building trades role within a facilities management environment. Experience working in commercial, retail, health care, or industrial buildings is beneficial.Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of carpentry, painting, tiling, plastering, and basic plumbing. Ability to work independently and within a team to complete maintenance tasks efficiently. Good problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach. Understanding of H&S regulations and safe working practices.
