About the Department

Role Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to become a team leader within an expanding team responsible for overseeing the Department’s response to Subject Access Requests (SARs) made under the Data Protection Act (DPA) by offenders.
As a team leader, you will be responsible for managing an administrative team, ensuring requests are completed in full and within statutory timeframes. This includes performance management actions to ensure individual and team targets are met.
Main Activities / Responsibilities
The job holder will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
* Lead, manage and motivate the team to ensure requests are completed within statutory timeframes.
* Plan resources and allocate work to ensure all requests are completed on time.
* Effectively manage team performance, including quality checks of staff.
* Act as a role model and encourage behaviours that support the organisation’s values.
* Ensure learning and development needs for all staff are identified and met.
* Provide advice and assistance to stakeholders on processing offender SARs.
Person Specification
Essential skills:
* Experience of leading a team.
* Working in a digital environment, streamlining processes.
* Experience of delivering customer service excellence.
* Working knowledge of the DPA and GDPR.
* Experience of working in or with HMPPS.
* Experience in supporting/mentoring roles.
* Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
