As a Bid specialist you will pro-actively build relationships and stay up-to-date with activity across WJ and the industry. Working closely with our Group Commercial Manager you will manage and coordinate strategic bidding activity across the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing the tendering process for identified key Strategic Bids
* Writing quality submissions and completing PQQ’s
* Ensuring accurate handovers of secured contracts to regional operations teams so there is a thorough understanding of pricing/assumptions/contract T’s & C’s
* Maintaining the group tender pipeline database
* Act as a point of contact for strategic clients, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships
* Visit both existing and perspective Clients to ensure alignment with vision/mission/values and preparedness for future opportunities
* Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and work in a collaborative manner to engage regularly with Clients and ensure they receive timely updates on the progress of the tenders
* Negotiate contracts, variations, and agreements to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
* Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive pressures.
* Keep up-to-date with developments in internal business functions to ensure bids are capturing current innovations, case studies and best practice;
* Provide strategic input to enhance WJ’s competitive position in the market.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for our Bid Specialist position:
* Experience in a tendering/work winning role, preferably in the highways or construction sector
* Motivated by desire to secure successful tender outcomes
* Confident in meeting new Clients/Colleagues/Supply Chain
* Strategic mindset with a focus on results and continuous improvement
* High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
* Strong negotiation skills in order to drive best value from your projects
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Additional Information:
Location:This is a hybrid role, you must live within a commutable distance of our Newcastle-under-Lyme or Lincoln depots. This role will also require you to represent the company in client meetings, presentations, and key decision-making forums across the UK where necessary.
Contract: Full-time permanent position
