Job Purpose
To manage, coordinate and administer the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE), a joint ESRC and AHRC funded centre aiming to advance knowledge and understanding of the UK housing sector and promote evidence-based policy and practice. Established in 2017, CaCHE is currently undertaking a wide range of projects of varying sizes, working with partners including government, research councils, and the third sector, as well as policy and practice.
The role supports and advises the Centre's Director to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the Centre’s objectives and activities, which encompasses oversight of a complex multi-institutional research and knowledge exchange programme; management of a £2m budget; and the coordination and delivery of a range of projects, events and other initiatives across the eight members of the Consortium that makes up CaCHE.
The role reports to the College Research Operations Manager as part of the College team supporting Centres and Projects. Workload will be assigned via the Centre Director.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the Centre’s operational and administrative affairs.
2. Work closely with the Centre Director to co-ordinate and respond to external funding opportunities including supporting budget development, approvals and submissions.
3. Supervise and allocate workload of Centre administrative staff employed by the University of Glasgow.
4. As a member of the Centre Management team, provide advice and support across all aspects of the Centre’s operational activities.
5. Oversee, manage and clerk the Centre’s governance and decision-making structures and systems, including the Centre’s Management Board and other forums.
6. Work with College Research Support Office to manage, disburse, monitor and report on the Centre’s budget and resources, including co-ordinating with partners and funders regarding invoicing.
7. Plan, coordinate, manage and monitor the Centre’s work-streams and portfolio of projects and initiatives.
8. Oversee the Centre’s programme of seminars, conferences and other events, working with the Communications & Engagement Officer and other relevant Centre colleagues.
9. Oversee the Centre’s external and internal communications, working closely with the Communications & Engagement Officer and other relevant Centre colleagues.
10. Manage the Centre’s internal information-sharing and data management systems and procedures.
11. Act as the principal administrative liaison point for the Centre with its key funders and stakeholders, including the UK Research Councils, leading on the provision of information about and reporting on the Centre’s activities and operations.
12. Undertake any other relevant duties as directed by the Centre Director or Head of College Operations.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
1. An undergraduate degree in the social sciences or humanities, or equivalent experience as detailed in E1 or relevant experience.
2. Thorough understanding and knowledge of project management methodologies.
Desirable
1. Formal project management qualification(s) (PRINCE2 Practitioner; ITIL Foundation; MSP Practitioner certificate or similar).
2. Awareness and knowledge of UK housing policy/housing sector.
Skills
Essential
1. Planning, management and delivery of a portfolio of projects and initiatives.
2. Experience of setting, managing and monitoring budgets and resources.
3. Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
4. Proven ability to produce reports, presentations and technical documents for a variety of audiences.

1. In-depth experience of successfully managing and delivering projects in the Higher Education or relevant experience.

1. Experience of line managing administrative staff.
2. Experience of research administration in the Higher Education sector and/or of supporting the development of public policy in local, regional or national government body or similar.
3. Experience of using and interacting with the UK Research Councils including their application and reporting systems.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £40,497 - £45,413 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 31 October 2026 in the first instance.
