We are really excited to be offer the rare and exciting opportunity to become Demelzas next Children and Young Peoples (CYP engagement officer. To engage with children and young people who use Demelzas services to seek their views and involvement to shape and influence current and future services.
Main duties of the job
To develop a fully inclusive approach to engaging with children and young people including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). To develop and advocate the Voice of the Child throughout the organisation. To promote and deliver opportunities to seek the review of services accessed by children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions and their siblings, to support service development.

Qualifications
Essential
1. A relevant vocational qualification (SEND, Youth Work, Childcare Level 3) and
2. considerable relevant experience in a child / young person-based role
3. Extensive experience and ability to communicate with non-speaking children and
4. young people with complex medical needs, as well as children who have no
5. communication barriers
6. Experience in using non-verbal methods and devices of communication including but
7. not limited to eye gaze, Makaton, pecs, or other not yet identified methods
8. Experience of delivering and understanding children, young people and family
9. participation or engagement activities, such as youth advisory groups
10. Experience of working effectively with other professionals and partners in order to
11. safeguard children and young people and maintain service quality
12. Display an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and
13. safeguarding of children and young people
14. Able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with
15. children, young people and families
16. Confidence to communicate in a clear, concise and informative way with people at all
17. levels, including children and young people, parents, trustees and senior
18. management, and to be sensitive, diplomatic, discreet and courteous in all contact,
19. both internal and external.
20. Ability to engage with and create a rapport and build relationships with children,
21. young people and parents / carers and families and to deal with complex issues in a
22. sensitive and appropriate manner
23. Ability to work flexibly meeting the availability of young people, which includes regular
24. evenings, weekends and school holidays
25. Demonstrate close alignment to all Demelza values
26. This role requires regular travel across our operating region. Full driving licence and
27. access to own vehicle for business use or access to reliable transport arrangements
28. will be essential.

29. High level understanding and ability to use social media and digital methods as an
30. engagement tool, to promote and deliver participation, involvement and consultation
31. opportunities for children and young people
32. Experience of blended engagement, with the ability to engage with young people
33. virtually and face to face.
34. Understanding risk, good practice and health and safety requirements when working
35. with children and young people.
36. Event management skills to support children and young people participation and
37. engagement activities.
38. Experience in using databases and online tools, creating innovative and SMART
39. methods of engagement.
