Technician and Plant Operator (f/m/d) – Shetland UK
Our international and agile team is searching for a Technician and Plant Operator (f/m/d) in the UK. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in building and operation of the UK’s first vertical launch site. You will help lead the fabrication, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of systems at our Launch site on the Shetland Islands, with the opportunity to travel to our other sites across Europe should the need arise. You will have the choice of either being based at the launch site in Unst, or working on a rotation pattern. If you enjoy working in a dynamic and international team of dedicated people, then apply.
Your Tasks
1. Operate plant machinery (mobile cranes, off-road forklifts, and MEWPS) and equipment safely and efficiently during launch site construction and pre-launch operations.
2. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on plant equipment.
3. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems.
4. Create lift plans and execute for complex operations involving critical launch site hardware.
5. Ensure all equipment is well maintained and serviced at appropriate intervals, and that the state of equipment is well documented.
6. Carry out basic fabrication work in support of site construction, operation, and maintenance.
Your Qualifications
1. Experience in metal work and fabrication – cutting, grinding, bending, deburring.
2. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
3. Proven experience in plant operations, equipment maintenance, or a similar technical role.
4. Experience as a plant operator in rough terrain.
5. CPCS blue or red card for A14 (Rough terrain forklift).
6. CPCS blue or red card for A17 (Telescopic handler) is desirable.
7. CPCS blue or red card for A26 (Boom MEWP) is desirable.
8. CSTS green card is desirable.
9. Experience in producing lift plans is desirable.
10. Relevant crane, slinger, and lift qualifications (CPCS A60, A61, A62, and A40) are all desirable.
11. Team player, and works calmly under pressure.
12. Willing to work outdoors and in a remote location.
