Buyer – Drylining

MCG Construction are partnering with a leading construction sub-contractor specializing in drylining, working on a multi-million-pound project in London. We are actively recruiting for an experienced Buyer with a strong background in procurement for drylining materials. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience working for a specialist subcontractor within the construction industry.
Role Overview
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in pre-tender and tender purchasing, ensuring efficient procurement of materials for site operations. This position will involve overseeing site procurement, managing commercial project tendering, and negotiating national supply contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage procurement for high-value or high-risk sections of the project, including sourcing, tendering, negotiation, and contracting.
* Liaise with suppliers to identify cost-effective solutions and time-saving products.
* Oversee supplier accounts to maximize efficiency while addressing and resolving any supply chain challenges.
* Identify key procurement issues, such as cost, installation, maintenance, and client specifications, to inform supplier negotiations.
* Ensure steady stock availability for high-risk materials.
* Streamline the UK supplier base and enhance purchasing power through national supply agreements.
* Maintain the European purchasing database with UK orders and supplier updates.
Key Requirements
* Extensive experience in drylining procurement.
* Previous experience in a Buyer/Purchasing role within construction (preferable).
* Strong commercial awareness with a keen eye for cost-saving opportunities.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple procurement tasks.
* IT proficient with experience using procurement software and databases.
