My client is looking for a Transport Supervisor to join their team! If you have previous experience as a Transport Supervisor or a similar role, and are looking to join a reputable company, then LOOK NO FURTHER!
You will be responsible for maintaining continuous contact with the company drivers daily and collaborating closely with the Transport Manager on all transport issues. The successful candidate will contribute to identifying improvement opportunities and initiatives with the transport team and holding monthly reviews. The Supervisor will also be responsible for updating the compliance and legislation for the company fleet of vehicles.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the smooth operation of the allocated transport shift, ensuring that necessary resources (such as personnel and equipment) are available to meet planned activity levels.
2. Adhere to all statutory legislation, including Employment and Health and Safety regulations within the transport department.
3. Effectively communicate all aspects of the job to employees.
4. Supervise vehicle maintenance and monitor defects and faults.
5. Document and report all vehicle and driver incidents and accidents through the appropriate channels.
6. Plan and coordinate routes for drivers, ensuring timely dispatch.
7. Stay up-to-date with and implement CPC and Tachograph requirements.
8. Motivate and train drivers to deliver excellent customer service, exceeding customer expectations.
9. Follow processes and procedures related to the transport operation and debrief drivers according to company requirements.
10. Assist in recruiting transportation staff as needed.
11. Evaluate staff performance, providing feedback to employees and the Transport Manager, identifying areas for improvement.
12. Maintain open communication with drivers regarding shift matters and working processes.
13. Cultivate and manage effective working relationships.
Key Skills:
14. Ensure your CPC is up-to-date.
15. Clean driving licence.
16. Having a forklift license is beneficial.
17. Demonstrated ability in planning and overseeing transport operations.
18. Proven track record in planning and problem-solving.
19. Previous experience exceeding customer expectations.
20. Show initiative and a positive attitude.
21. Adaptability is key.
22. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
