The salary for this role is £32,729.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Role
The Modelling and Design Team provides design and analysis services for the Office of the Chief Engineer in support of the experimental facilities, MAST and JET, as well as the wider UKAEA in support of ITER, DEMO and STEP.
The purpose of the role is to carry out electro-magnetic/thermal/mechanical engineering design and analysis activities with a particular emphasis on tasks requiring expertise in the use of computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to simulate design functionality and qualify performance. As this is a graduate/entry level role, the role holder is primarily responsible for delivering such packages of work with some level of supervision.
* Calculations – Use established calculation tools and classical methods to evaluate design concepts.
* Code Writing – Undertake code testing and validation work for new analysis code modules.
* Design Simulation – Create FE models of components and simple assemblies for single-physics analyses and use them to explore and optimise performance of design concepts.
* Design Verification – Use calculation tools and FE analyses for functional verification of design concepts against defined load specifications.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Documentation – Complete process documents and write technical reports.
* Expertise – Become familiar with the routine analyses required for design of Fusion Engineering Systems.
* Checking – Work with checkers to ensure use of appropriate methods and models.
* Training – Work with trainers to gain knowledge of UKAEA methods and processes.
* Supervising – Work with supervisors to develop required skills.
* Processes – Ensure own work is completed in accordance with UKAEA processes.
* Management – Manage small work packages for self and work with assigned CAD designers or technicians.
* Testing – Potential participation in experiments and testing campaign.
