Are you an experienced professional with a passion for supporting young people who face significant behavioural challenges? We are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team, helping students in a secondary school setting overcome obstacles and achieve their potential.
About the Role:
In this full-time role, you will work closely with students who exhibit extremely challenging behaviour, providing essential support to help them engage positively with their education. Your experience in Alternative Provision (AP) or a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) will be invaluable in managing complex situations and fostering resilience and growth in students.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Building positive and trusting relationships with students to promote engagement.
2. De-escalating challenging situations and implementing behaviour strategies effectively.
3. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to support individual education and behaviour plans.
4. Acting as a mentor and role model for students, encouraging positive choices.
5. Maintaining a safe and structured environment for learning.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Prior experience working in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Alternative Provision (AP), or similar setting.
2. Confidence in managing and supporting students with extreme behavioural needs.
3. A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
5. An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
