Associate Director of Structures

Salary: up to £65,000
Our client is a successful well-established civil and structural design practice operating from a friendly design office in Brighton. They are actively seeking an Associate Director level Structural Engineer to assist in leading and managing the team in working on residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use development projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum 2:1 BSc/BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
2. At least 10 years post-qualification experience in civil and structural engineering
3. Full UK driving license and own transport
4. Chartered (MICE or MIStructE)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using all relevant UK and European codes of practice
2. Producing preliminary design solutions and reviewing with clients as part of the design strategy
3. Producing detailed designs, calculations, specifications, and technical reviews
4. Attendance at design, project progress, and client engagement meetings
5. Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organisations, and stakeholders, answering queries in relation to technical detailing
6. Design in all forms of construction including steelwork, reinforced/precast concrete, masonry, and timber
7. Structural appraisals of commercial, industrial, and residential structures
8. Management of project costs and programme
9. Management of sustainability criteria
10. Complying with designers' duties under the CDM Regulations
11. Producing sketches, drawings, and writing structural appraisal reports
12. Supervising the CAD/Revit technicians and junior engineers on technical/construction details and undertaking QA reviews
13. Selling, marketing, and business development of existing clients and being alert to new leads
