Responsibilities:
1. Moving patients between wards, theatres, and recovery departments.
2. Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.
3. Supporting theatre personnel in providing a safe, high-quality environment for surgical procedures by:
1. Assisting the clinical practitioners with procedures.
2. Providing basic patient care.
3. Assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of stock levels.
4. Preparing and setting up the theatre prior to the theatre list.
5. Performing general circulating duties as instructed/requested from qualified members of the theatre team.
6. Ensuring the safe transit of the patient to and from the ward and between areas within day theatres, before and after surgery, and ensuring the safety of any equipment that is attached to the patient.
7. Providing knowledgeable and safe assistance with the transfer of the anaesthetised patient from the patient's trolley to the operating table using the hospital policy for manual handling of patients.
8. Assisting with the positioning of the patient for a surgical procedure.
9. Undertaking pressure area care using pressure relieving practices and devices as advised by registered staff.
10. Ensuring all documentation is recorded accurately, legibly signed, and dated in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and countersigned by registered staff as appropriate.
Additional Information:
Flexible working, part-time hours. The theatre complex operates 7 days a week. Please note that this advertised position, which is part of occupation code 6131, does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa (this includes if you are already in a sponsored post and looking to change employer).
