Job Title: Manufacturing Explosives Technician
Location: Glasgow
Role: Full Time
Hours: 4 day week Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week
Due to demand we’re looking for an experienced Explosives Technician to join our Optronics and Missile Electronics [OME] business unit in Glasgow.

You will be carrying out various assembly and testing tasks within the Explosives Lab following work instructions and engineering drawings where required.
What you'll need
1. Excellent knowledge of the safe systems of work in regard to explosives and fuses
2. Good working knowledge of processing and handling of all types of explosives & weapons testing
3. Understand and interpret work instruction sheets (W.I.S.)
4. Ability to understand standard explosives safety procedures i.e. HAPTM checks, environmental considerations.
5. Ability to perform complex mechanical & electronic assembly of products in an explosives environment
6. The ability to interpret drawings and wiring diagrams.
7. Eligible to obtain full SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
8. To perform complex Manufacturing operations in accordance with the associated documentation provided to the quality standards expected in a timely and professional manner.
9. To adhere to the defined Company processes when carrying out all tasks
10. Performs self-assessment and approval of products
11. To input and support any continuous improvement actions being worked on within Industry
12. To be able to detect any fault or non-compliance and if necessary raise the alert. In addition when able should contribute to diagnostics and the finding of the cause/root analysis
13. To manage and record build configuration of product
14. To use the company tools (IBS, Palma etc) when carrying out product assembly tasks
About you
15. Ability to assemble and test product to a high standard
16. Ability to perform complex electrical operations involving wiring and component soldering to IPC standards
17. To have an awareness / understanding of Manufacturing processes
18. Focussed on meeting deadlines with good time management and prioritisation skills
19. The ability to work on own initiative when required
20. The ability to work and contribute as a team player
21. A basic level of PC skills
Desirable
22. Experience in working within an Industrial / Engineering environment is essential.
23. IPC trained and accredited
