Level 2 Teaching Assistant Position – Garstang

About Us: Teaching Personnel is collaborating with a reputable primary school in Garstang, Lancashire, renowned for its commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. We are seeking a dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team starting after the Easter break in April 2025.
Role Overview: The successful candidate will support teachers in delivering high-quality education, focusing on enhancing students' educational and social development. This role involves working closely with pupils to ensure they receive tailored support, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing the classroom for lessons and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.
* Support pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
* Aid teachers in planning and executing learning activities, as well as maintaining accurate records of pupil progress.
* Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
* Supervise pupils during group activities, school trips, and other events.
* Provide care and support to children who are upset or have had accidents.
* Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
* Perform administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools or equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school setting.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grades A*–C.
* Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
Skills and Attributes:
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
* Excellent organisational skills and adaptability.
* Creativity and enthusiasm for working with children.
* Patience, resilience, and a good sense of humour.
* Ability to manage groups effectively and handle challenging behaviour.
* Basic IT skills and proficiency in community languages are advantageous.
