Who You Are We are seeking a conservation and heritage officer who possesses 2 years of experience within a local authority or consultancies for local authorities. The ideal candidate should have experience in reviewing and advising on major applications affecting heritage assets. Excellent communication and report writing skills are essential, along with providing valuable technical advice in application meetings. A strong knowledge of heritage and conservation requirements and legislation is crucial. Additionally, the candidate should be available to attend meetings in Kingston on reasonable notice. What the Job Involves This part-time role (up to 14 hours a week) involves preserving historic buildings, structures, and areas. The position is initially for three months, with a possibility of extension. Main duties include providing advice on the impact of development proposals concerning the historic environment, based on pre-application enquiries, applications, Listed Building Consents, and enforcement. The role involves attending meetings (primarily virtual but occasionally in person), conducting research using archives and heritage legislation, and maintaining communication with planning officers and other project teams. Additionally, site visits are required for assessing historic buildings and engagements with Historic England.
