Job Description
Qualified Social Worker, Wigan Council, Children Adoption Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team.
The team works extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager.
The responsibilities will include:
1. Ensure that adopted children and their adoptive families who may need support receive appropriate assessments which identify needs.
2. Create, develop and deliver a range of support services (this may involve some evening and weekend working).
3. Work with social workers and other professionals/agencies as appropriate, to ensure delivery of appropriate interventions and support to adopted children, their adoptive families and birth relatives as appropriate.
4. Lead the development of responsive adoption support, including therapeutic interventions.
5. Provide advice and consultation to social workers, link workers and adoptive families.
6. Assist in the delivery of a training programme for staff and adoptive families.
7. Be qualified as a social worker and registered with the HCPC.
8. Experienced in assessments with good written and communication skills.
9. Knowledge and skills grounded in safeguarding and statutory responsibilities in relation to children and adults.
10. Maintain a high level of knowledge in relation to developments within the field of adoption support, and assist the department in any changes necessary to maintain a high standard of service.
11. Liaise with other professionals.
12. 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation).
13. 3 month Temporary Contract.
14. Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance.

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent, must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS, and be a car driver.
