How to contribute to our vision
We are looking for a Power Converter Control & Software Engineer to work in the field of power converter control and develop new control systems for the next generation of large multi-megawatt wind turbines. Located in our Glasgow city center offices, the successful candidate will work with experienced engineers to specify, implement, test, and deploy power converter control systems for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy wind turbines.
Depending on qualifications and experience, this role allows participation in all aspects of the development of new control systems, from simulation and laboratory testing to turbine and wind farm level testing, and support deployment across the global fleet.
Some of your key tasks will include but are not limited to:
* You will design, develop, and implement new control features in line with our software quality and test processes.
* Review relevant requirements, standards, and other documentation to clarify and understand the engineering requirements.
* Occasionally complete remote site investigations and troubleshooting for our Electrical systems worldwide.
What You Need To Make a Difference
We are looking for candidates with:
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and concisely.
* A Bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
* Self-motivation and initiative in finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
These positions are open to both recently qualified graduate engineers and experienced engineers at all levels with experience in any of the following:
* Power electronic converter design and control.
* Control theory and application.
* Time and/or frequency domain modelling on platforms such as MATLAB Simulink, RSCAD, Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS).
* Power electronic drives, vector current control, Pulse Width Modulation.
* 3-phase power systems analysis.
* Grid forming control systems and power system simulation.
* Real-time embedded control and implementation.
* Software Engineering.
