This role involves providing specialist care and support for a client with a spinal cord injury, ensuring they receive high-quality, person-centred care in their own home. Requirements Previous experience in caring for patients with spinal cord injuries is essential. Knowledge of bowel management, catheter care, medication administration, autonomic dysreflexia, and dysphagia is required. Proficiency in moving and handling, including the use of hoists. A caring and compassionate nature with a person-centred approach to care. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Right to work in the UK. Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities Bowel Management Assisting with and carrying out bowel care routines as per the clients care plan. Catheter Care Managing both indwelling and suprapubic catheters, including monitoring and maintenance. Medication Administration Safe handling and administration of prescribed medications. Autonomic Dysreflexia Management Recognising and responding appropriately to signs and symptoms of autonomic dysreflexia. Moving & Handling Using safe techniques and specialist equipment such as hoists to transfer and reposition the client. Dysphagia Support Assisting with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring safe swallowing techniques are followed. Personal Care Providing assistance with hygiene, dressing, and grooming while maintaining the clients dignity.
