At the James Paget University Hospital, we pride ourselves on our experienced and supportive clinical pharmacy team who can help to support and nurture you in the early stages of your career as a hospital pharmacist. With close ties to the UEA School of Pharmacy, as well as funded positions on both the Newly Qualified Pharmacist Programme (NQP) and the integrated prescribing diploma – NQPIP courses, you will have access to a high quality postgraduate teaching and qualifications. Thanks to a recent successful recruitment drive, we are developing a team of pharmacists with a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as developing innovative clinical roles. As a department, we are focusing on adapting and modernising our clinical service in line with our new hospital rebuild starting in 2025 and the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Trusts's joint Electronic Patient Record (EPR) project. Key Responsibilities:
* Providing a clinical pharmacy ward-based service with the opportunity to care for patients in a wide range of specialities which may include emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, intensive care, gastroenterology, paediatrics, frailty, oncology/haematology and respiratory.
* Clinical verification and accuracy checking of prescriptions including in patient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions.
* Giving advice to medical, nursing, other healthcare staff and patients on all aspects of the safe & effective use of medicines.
* Facilitating medicines reconciliation, discharge planning, and patient counselling assisted by our team of pharmacy technicians.
