As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be required to have well-developed triage skills and experience coordinating different areas of the emergency department, including the resuscitation areas.
Our department includes an 8-bedded resuscitation area, a co-located Urgent Care Centre, a children's Emergency Department, CDU, and SDEC service.

Adult nurses have the opportunity to attend both courses, which include level 1 trauma and can be taken at both degree and master's levels.
We recognize that training and development opportunities are vital for a happy and competent workforce. This is why we have an ED-specific Clinical Practice Education (CPE) team dedicated to the development of our nurses. You will be supported every step of the way by our senior nurses, the CPE team, and your colleagues.
We offer a variety of development opportunities which include, but are not limited to:
* Protected Supernumerary period

* Support with completing the Level 1 RCN National Curriculum and Competency Framework for Emergency Nursing competencies.
Main Duties of the Job

The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team, including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators, safeguarding, mental health liaison team, and clinical specialties. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically, including unsocial hours, and will be expected to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department while being able to independently take charge of them.
You will assist your Team Leader in managing your own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential.
As a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in our busy Emergency Department, you will have the opportunity to work in all areas, including children's ED, to increase your skill set and competency.
You will be actively involved in retention and recruitment and will also be responsible for link roles, giving you the opportunity to drive change and improve standards.
