Are you a natural storyteller? Can you build connections with people? We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager to help us tell the PD Ports story across a range of audience groups.
About PD Ports
At PD Ports, we always have a story to tell. Our impact stretches beyond industry to the communities we serve. We play a critical role in ensuring the UK remains competitive in global trade and are fundamental in the delivery of national priorities centred around high quality jobs, energy security, thriving communities and the journey to net zero. We are unwavering in our commitment to investing in our infrastructure and our people.
Employing 1,400 people nationwide, we own and operate 11 locations, stretching from Teesport and Hartlepool in the North to the Thames and the Isle of Wight in the South.
But we are much more than just a port company and shipping services provider. As the Statutory Harbour Authority for Teesport and the Port of Hartlepool, we oversee all vessel traffic, river management, channel depth, and the designated Harbour Police, which includes a 12-mile stretch of the River Tees and a three-mile section into the North Sea.
About the role: This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Communications and Engagement team at PD Ports. You will be responsible for leading our media and public relations activity and internal communications content, reporting to the Head of Communications and Culture.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Seek additional opportunities for publicity including relevant events and paid-for editorial; create supporting materials.
* Manage relationships with key external stakeholders including charity and community partners.
* Create compelling narrative content that can be used across a range of internal and external media.
Location and working arrangements: It’s a combination of home and office working, so you’ll need to be available on Teesside in-person frequently. Although the role is temporary (covering a period of absence in the team), it’s a critical one.
Skills and experience required:
* A degree, equivalent qualification, or significant experience in PR, Marketing, or Internal Communications. A Communications-related qualification is also desirable (e.g., CIPR, CIM, NCTJ).
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to craft inspiring and informative content for various platforms to engage both external and internal audiences.
* Experience with media liaison/press office activity/event/visit management.
* The ability to navigate communications during times of change or crisis.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
* A proven self-starter who can demonstrate the ability to make an impact quickly.
* Is authentic and aligned to our company values – Safety First, Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, Trust, Commitment, and Honesty.
The salary is £45,000.00 pro rata and is a six-month fixed term contract.
We offer 25 days holiday, paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave, life insurance, a generous sick pay scheme, and a cycle to work scheme.
