Responsibilities
Leads the preparation of financial reports and ensures accurate financial transactions and compliance with internal policies and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting standards. Prepares and reviews financial statements, reconciliations, and reports for accuracy and completeness. Assists in the implementation of internal controls and financial systems to enhance efficiency and compliance. Supports financial reporting and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. Provides guidance and training to less experienced accounting staff and helps resolve accounting discrepancies.
Financial Transactions & Record-Keeping:
* Responsible for day-to-day accounting duties including accounts payable, customer invoicing, and resolving customer billing issues.
* Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable.
* Ensure timely and accurate posting of financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
* Prepare financial statements, ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IFRS, and company policies.
* Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
* Monitor and enforce accounting policies and internal controls to maintain financial integrity.
* Identify discrepancies and support corrective actions to minimize financial risks.
Systems & Process Improvement:
* Utilize accounting software and financial tools to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
* Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and assist in implementing best practices.
Team Development:
* Provide guidance and training to less experienced accounting staff, ensuring adherence to accounting policies.
* Support employee development by coaching team members on accounting principles and procedures.
Business Partnering & Decision Support:
* Provide financial insights to senior management to guide decision-making.
* Partner with other departments to assess financial risks and opportunities.
* Support strategic planning and investment decisions with financial data and analysis.
Qualifications
Technical Competencies:
* General Ledger Management – Experienced in reviewing and approving journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
* Financial Reporting – Experienced in preparing and overseeing the accuracy of month-end and year-end financial statements.
* Internal Controls – Experienced in maintaining and monitoring internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting policies.
* Regulatory Compliance – Experienced in applying GAAP and other relevant accounting standards in day-to-day operations.
* Accounting Software Proficiency – Experienced in working with ERP systems to manage financial transactions.
* Process Improvement – Experienced in identifying inefficiencies in accounting workflows and recommending improvements.
* Tax Compliance Support – Experienced in assisting with tax reporting, audits, and the preparation of required filings.
* Experienced in reviewing work performed by less experienced accountants and providing constructive feedback.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or international equivalent).
* Typically requires 6+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting.
* CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
* Experience managing general ledger activities and financial statement preparation.
* Experienced in general ledger management, journal entries, and reconciliations.
* Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
* Proficient in accounting software, Sage Intacct preferred.
* Ability to analyze financial data and generate accurate reports.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Effective communication and ability to mentor accounting staff.
* Salesforce experience is a plus.
