Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.
Our main workstreams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

Purpose:
The Global Policy Team (GPT) works to support policy-makers change the policy architecture to make it easy to (efficiently) finance the transition. The team works together with regional teams across the organisation, maintaining a global focus and providing policy expertise.
The Global Policy Team is looking for an experienced Senior Analyst to lead on sector-specific policy work, with a strong focus on hard-to-abate sectors. The role includes a mix of analytical work and coordination of work taking place across the organisation, to provide consistency and leadership in excellence.
The role is ideal for a candidate looking to grow within the role and support the expansion of the team, including through contributing to project proposals and supporting the design of new work.
Key Relationships:
Internal: GPT, Taxonomy team, Standards team
External: stakeholders in government, industry, finance and civil society.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Lead and develop analysis on the transition of the hard-to-abate sectors (such as steel, cement, agriculture, energy, etc) and its financing, within a broader understanding of industrial transition (including e.g. hydrogen), and continue to develop expertise in those sectors. This includes:
1. Proactively monitoring and analysis of critical policy initiatives in key markets (e.g. EU, China, Latin America, India and Japan);
2. Drafting of reports, briefings, presentations, blogs, etc.
3. Draft briefings for CBI’s CEO and senior executives on relevant topics.
* Act as a point of contact, expertise and thought leadership on those topics for the Global Policy Team, acting as a representative for the team with all regional and project teams, coordinating work, enabling consistency and quality and fostering communications and learnings. This also includes: Contributing to CBI’s policy network.
* Support CBI’s work in advocacy and influence work on the topics listed above. Representing the organization externally.
* Maintain network of stakeholders, internally and externally to support advocacy, influence work, and collaborate. This should be based on a good understanding of the key stakeholders in the net zero transition in key sectors, both at global (e.g. G20, SFWG, G7, etc) and regional and national levels (e.g. national policy-makers, regulators).
Decision making authority:
* Contribute to the team’s growth through identifying opportunities, contributing to project proposals and pitching new ideas.
* Contributing to management and coordination of policy projects;
* Regional team reports
* Assessment and contribution to project proposals to support team expansion.
Requirements
Essential:
* Self-starter, motivated and ambitious candidate willing to grow within the team and support its expansion. Able to function with minimal supervision and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
* At least 3 years of work experience in a policy or analytical role in the fields of financing the transition to net zero or transitions in hard-to-abate sectors.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline – policy, economics, finance, environment.
* Excellent analytical and drafting skills, strong communication skills, ability to function in diverse, remote and multi-cultural teams.
* Knowledge of relevant global policy landscape and of policy context in one or more regions. Ability to identify and analyse events that shape policy developments
* Understanding of financial markets – with a focus on debt markets – and how those can contribute to the financing of the transition to net zero and good command of CBI’s mission.
Desirable:
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is desirable, experience in relevant fields will be considered as equivalent.
* Experience in providing critical analysis of transition pathways at sectoral levels.
* Policy experience at both global level and different regional levels.
* Briefing experience.
* Project management experience.
* Additional language skills (beyond English).
