Under Stalker Vacancy (2 Year Fixed Term Contract, Full Time) Sutherland, Highlands The Reay Forest Estate, situated in the North West Highlands, is a large, traditional sporting estate famed for its deer stalking and trout and fishing as well as its wild beauty and remote landscapes. Our Role We are keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about wildlife management and can follow direction and work on their own initiative. As an Under Stalker, you will assist the Sporting team in managing sporting activities, controlling vermin and predators, and maintaining the habitat of the Reay Forest Estate. Working under the direction of the Head Stalker, you will support all aspects of deer management according to the approved annual plan and budget. You will contribute to preventing poaching and trespassing on the estate, maintain vermin and predator controls within legislative guidelines, and assist in maintaining and improving the habitat on the estate. Collaboration with the wider estate team and neighbouring estates will be essential to ensure smooth operations. In addition, you will assist with deer culls, shoots, and fishing days with guests as required. Supporting the work and cleaning of the larder under senior team members' direction will also be part of your role, alongside caring for and working with our estate ponies. Ensuring all equipment and PPE are suitable, clean, and fully functional, and reporting any maintenance requirements and necessary repairs to the Head Stalker are key responsibilities. Candidates should possess a valid driving license and Shotgun/Firearms licenses. Training will be provided, but the ability to operate sporting machinery and equipment is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently to complete tasks safely, on time, and within budget are crucial.
