We are recruiting for a newly created position within our Finance department, a Purchase Ledger Clerk who will work closely with the Financial Controller responsible for transactional tasks such as managing invoices, processing payments, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with financial reports.
Surface Transforms will support the successful candidate in relevant Accountancy exams and qualifications.
What you’ll be doing as our Purchase Ledger Clerk:
* Purchase Order to Invoice System:
* Manage the end-to-end purchase order (PO) process, ensuring all invoices align with purchase orders and are correctly authorized.
* Verify and code invoices accurately to the appropriate accounts and cost centers.
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies between POs, invoices, and delivery notes.
* Weekly Payment Runs:
* Work with key personnel in other departments to prepare and process weekly payment runs in accordance with company policies and agreed payment terms.
* Liaise with suppliers to confirm bank details and resolve any payment-related queries.
* Ensure all payments are approved and processed within deadlines.
* Upload payments into the bank for approval.
* Supplier Management:
* Maintain and update supplier accounts in the system.
* Address supplier inquiries promptly and professionally.
* Reconcile supplier statements to ensure accounts are up-to-date and accurate.
* Ledger Maintenance:
* Post transactions to the purchase ledger and ensure all entries are accurate and complete.
* Perform regular reconciliations of the purchase ledger to the general ledger.
* Reporting and Compliance:
* Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing relevant purchase ledger reports.
* Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
* Balance Sheet:
* Assist in ensuring the accurate accounting of provisions and balances within the balance sheet.
* Liaising with auditors to ensure the smooth delivery of year-end figures.
* Profit and loss:
* Ensure that costs are correctly booked to the P&L in line with current accounting standards.
* Ensure that costs are allocated to the relevant cost centres to monitor financial performance.
* Assisting with prepayments, accruals and other necessary month end journals.
* Assistance with the production of management accounts and analysis of variance to budget.
The Skills, Knowledge and Experience you will need as our Purchase Ledger Clerk:
* Advanced Excel skills with proven experience.
* Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to engage with non-financial stakeholders.
* Experience within Purchase Ledger role.
Need to have:
* 3 years Purchase Ledger experience.
* Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
Nice to have:
* Part Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT).
* Experience with SAP Business One.
