A rare opportunity has arisen at our Kirkbride Plant for Blends Plant Operator to help in ensuring that animal feed is manufactured to deadlines.

The Job
To operate the blends plant machinery safely, operate the weighbridge effectively and efficiently ensuring that quality standards are met. To provide cover for the whole site as required.
1. Store products in the blends plant ensuring that product is rotated in a strictly 'first in' 'first out' manner, unless instructed otherwise.
2. Produce blends and coarse mixes etc. to meet orders, stock requirements and any production plan associated with these.
3. Ensure that all product is fit for sale/despatch.
4. Ensure that all operating procedures and other legal and company requirements are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance. This includes the UFAS accreditation.
5. Carry out maintenance in the Blends plant that is within your skills and ability.
6. Ensure that all documentation is correct.
7. Utilise the company IT system in order to weigh and despatch vehicles outwards and weigh and receive goods inwards.
8. Inform the appropriate Manager/Supervisor of any defects or shortages in any goods or materials delivered to site.
9. Liaise closely with the Operations Manager, Kirkbride site colleagues, Carlisle Production/ Raw Material Planner, and the Transport Manager/Supervisor to ensure that the plant/customer demands are met.
10. Take samples of all production runs in accordance with procedures and inspect for quality control, report any variance from the required standards immediately.
11. Closely monitor the performance of both plant and machinery within the Blends plant and report to management any significant changes.
12. Maintain production records as required and ensure the information is accurate and properly recorded.
13. Manufacture blends and coarse mixes using the mixers.
14. Participate, if required, in stocktaking on a monthly and as required basis.
15. Carryout and log daily safety and maintenance checks of all the sites mechanical equipment e.g. shovels and forklifts.
16. Alert Management to any slow moving or out of date stock and any signs of infestation.
17. Clear up any spillages or burst bags at the first convenient opportunity.
18. Ensure that your work areas are kept clean and tidy and that waste is disposed of appropriately and responsibly.
19. Ensure that you are aware of quality standards and targets related to the job.
20. Comply with site security arrangements and report any security risks to the Manager/Supervisor responsible for the site immediately.
21. Adhere to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.
22. To ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice, are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes.

Essential
Excellent Communication Skills
Experience working in a busy manufacturing and/or agricultural environment.
Basic level of IT literacy and ability to learn new systems.
