This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis, covering maternity leave until 24th February 2026.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Summary of the role
We are seeking an experienced, creative and solution driven Senior Procurement Sustainability Officer (SPO) in the Strategic Procurement team, who will be responsible for helping to drive value from procurement of goods and services whilst realising the university’s sustainability ambitions and collaborating with key stakeholders (internal and external) to develop sustainable procurement initiatives. Sustainability training will be given. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in sustainability and have strong procurement experience, preferably including public sector procurement experience. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and deliver sustainable procurement solutions for our bought goods and services. The successful candidate will be able to:
* Source solutions that minimise the environmental impact of the University’s supply chain whilst realising value for money.
* Deliver Cashable and Non-cashable savings to support the University’s savings target.
* Source solutions that deliver social value benefits.
* Develop procurement strategies compliant with the Procurement Regulations, which also promote and realise new sustainability ideas and solutions.
* Collaboratively work with multiple stakeholders on multiple procurements at any one time.
* Communicate and present to senior stakeholders on procurement strategy, planning and execution of end-to-end procurement projects for relevant spend categories.
* Develop procurement strategies derived from spend data analysis & research and using where appropriate, frameworks to source goods & services within a dynamic & agile environment.
