Health and Safety Manager (040jc) – Rayleigh – up to £40k + Benefits
This client is a specialist services provider to the Rail Industry, based from their HQ in Rayleigh, Essex, with regional offices across the UK. Their vision is to be the preferred supplier to the rail industry for all aspects of Arboriculture, Vegetation Management, Environmental Services, Minor Building Construction, Civil Works & Fencing.
They are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Manager to lead and implement safety policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe working environment by developing, monitoring, and enforcing health and safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to employees and management.
For this role, you will need:
1. Health & Safety Certification, minimum NEBOSH General, and preferably NEBOSH Construction
2. Experience of working within the Rail Industry would be an advantage
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
4. Computer literate and proficient in the use of MS Office
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Act as Company Health and Safety Representative, implementing Health & Safety procedures, Risk Assessments, and policies across the business
2. Conduct accident and incident investigations ensuring robust investigation techniques are applied and the communication of lessons learnt, and corrective actions are completed.
3. Deliver in-house training sessions/toolbox talks to ensure staff keep up to date with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
4. Support the Director of Safety & Assurance in the monitoring and reviewing policies and procedures to ensure that they are properly implemented and comply with changing legislation and best practice
5. Support contract managers, supervisors, and site managers in the management of staff in relation to all health, safety, and environmental matters
6. Conduct regular site audits of company H&S processes and procedures, advising of best practice amendments to the Director of Safety & Assurance
7. Ensure KPI’s are maintained in line with company targets and objectives
The ideal candidate would probably be a JNCO who is seeking to move into a dynamic HSE role, as my client will be offering continuing support and development, which will include various qualifications for the role. You will need to be based near their HQ, but please note that there will be a lot of travel across the UK supporting the other locations, with up to 50% travel expected over the year.
In return, they are offering a good starting salary circa £35 to 40k level, 25 days + Bank Holidays, Company Pension, free parking on site and use of company pool vehicle when traveling, as well as all full PPE.
