How you'll make a difference
As a Project Officer, you will provide key support on projects for the Property and Business Support service, ensuring that effective portfolio programme management and governance arrangements are in place. You will deliver on key objectives, ensuring value for money and to meet the organisational change requirements of the council.
The Property Business Support team is key to ensuring the division is operating to property council plan priorities and is made up of staff specialising in project management, data management, business intelligence, finance, customer services, climate and procurement.
What you will be doing
1. Working closely with the programme manager, project managers, internal and external stakeholders, contractors and councillors, you will provide effective support on specified projects across the property portfolio.
2. Assisting the project managers, you will ensure the correct project governance process is followed, and project documentation is completed and recorded accurately.
3. It will be your responsibility to gather and collate project progress information from responsible officers, undertaking analysis to ensure it is complete and accurate and subsequently preparing governance reports in line with agreed style and procedures.
4. You will undertake research and gather relevant information relating to property projects, to help shape business solutions, key performance data, share best practice and adopted approaches from partners and other organisations.
5. Working with the project managers and stakeholders, you will mitigate risks which affect the project delivery in terms of time, cost, and quality.
What we need from you
1. It is essential that you have or be working towards a recognised project management qualification such as Prince2 (Agile) or APM.
2. We require you to have knowledge and experience of delivering service changes and project management with a proven ability to monitor and or report on budgets, financial information and resources.
3. Significant experience of working within a large organisation is required, ideally with a public sector organisation.
4. You must have a good level of IT skills and the ability to use appropriate specialist in-house software packages.
5. Using your ability to understand and interpret complex data, you will provide solutions and recommendations to achieve appropriate outcomes and work to strict deadlines.
6. Stakeholder engagement is key, so you must have well-developed interpersonal skills for persuading, influencing and be able to build relationships and communicate effectively with customers.
What you need to know
1. This is a Limited Term Contract position until the 16th March 2026.
2. This is a hybrid role meaning that you can work remotely or in our offices.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 18th March 2025.
