The post holder will hold a relevant clinical qualification to degree level in Learning Disability and have experience of working within Learning Disability and Autism services.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, they will manage a caseload of patients with learning disability and mental health needs, using evidence-based practice.
They are required to take a lead role in the leadership of junior staff and support assistants, through supervision, training, and appraisal.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a range of intervention and assessment of people who have a learning disability and are presenting with a mental illness and/or severe challenging behaviour, taking into consideration the patient's physical/cognitive/perceptual skills to identify the patient's abilities and areas of difficulty.
2. Expected to work within a values-driven, recovery-based approach that embeds the Positive Behaviour Support framework. Post holders will have experience of working with people who have a learning disability and either mental ill-health and/or complex behavioural needs.
3. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own caseload in the day-to-day allocation of work, whilst being able to work flexibly to meet the needs of their patients, their relatives, and carers, and the service.
4. To deputise when required in the absence of the Team/Service Lead and delegate appropriately to more junior members of staff, support workers, and rehabilitation assistants as appropriate.
5. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.
6. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
7. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk, and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,515 to a maximum of £5,735 p.a. pro rata for part-time).

* To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.
