The Cardiology Department is looking to recruit an additional admin and clerical officer to join our friendly team.
The Cardiology Department provides a range of diagnostic tests and procedures to the residents of Barnsley as inpatients, outpatients or as direct referrals from GPs. Some of these include:
1. Electrocardiograms (ECG)
2. Ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring
3. Exercise testing, including cardio-pulmonary.
4. Echocardiography transthoracic, transoesophageal, contrast and stress
5. Pacemaker implantation and follow-up
6. Angiography
Our activity has increased significantly and more admin and clerical resource is required to deal with the rise in appointments. This post will be part of an admin team consisting of 7 staff.
You must be hard working, possess good oral and written communication skills, have good computer skills and be flexible to the needs of the department. Previous experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, would be desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job
The main role of this post is to provide admin and clerical support to the Cardiology Department. Some of the main duties include:
1. Booking appointments for patients requiring cardio-respiratory diagnostic tests.
2. Answering telephone enquiries from staff, patients, general public and businesses.
3. Manning the department's reception.
4. Filing request cards and clinical reports.
5. Typing clinical and other letters when necessary.
6. Photocopying.
7. Despatching results to the referring doctors.

Experience
* Previous clerical experience.
* Experience of information systems.
* Previous NHS experience.
Qualifications

* Ability to work without supervision.
* Ability to concentrate on tasks despite frequent interruptions and enquiries all of which need to be constantly reprioritised.
* Ability to deal with complaints both face to face and by telephone.
