Responsible to the Test Manager for the verification and validation of mission critical software and systems. The post holder will be responsible for carrying out system lifecycle activities as allocated by the Test Manager such as:
* Provide input/support to the generation of requirements and acceptance criteria.
* Define test requirements and design tests to satisfy requirements.
* Write test plans, test scripts, test reports and other associated test documentation
* Proficient in the selection and use of test tools, diagnose test failures and provide results and recommendations
* Maintain test tools and test environments
* Contribute to the section/department procedures where appropriate
* Support in the provision of resource estimates
* Support project test review activities.
* Support the acceptance of supplier test documentation.
DIMENSIONS Project Related Activities:
* The post holder will be responsible for, typically, up to 2-3 concurrent tasks within a Programme/Major Project. Number of concurrent Verification & Validation work packages, typically, 1 - 2 (dependant on main system software and adaptation requirements).
* The post holder will operate within work packages of major projects with indicative values of between £1M - £5M.
AUTONOMY
* Expected to work unsupervised, on one or more assigned Verification and Validation Tasks, following the V&V Process to ensure they are delivered to the agreed quality, cost and time.
* Has responsibility for delegating and supervising assigned human resources in order to achieve project goals.
SCOPE OF JOB
* Perform the timely and efficient execution of assigned V&V activities.
* Analyse requirements to determine optimum test solutions and produce accurate test specifications for assigned tasks.
* The post holder must be highly motivated and able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, understanding and reviewing reports written by others and writing documents forming part of the formal documentation of a change.
* The ability to support, coach, motivate and develop members of the team to maximise their contribution to the needs of projects in coordination with People Leads.
The job holder is expected to hold, as a minimum, a HNC (or an equivalent qualification) in an Engineering related discipline and have relevant engineering experience
* Proven experience in the engineering aspects of large real time systems, preferably in safety related environments and / or Air Traffic Management Systems (ATM).
* The job holder should have a good working knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycles and testing processes.
