About Evolve Therapeutic Childrens Services:
At evolve, we strive to provide an evidence-based therapeutic service recruiting Foster parents and Residential staff across the South-East.
Set in the Kent countryside, evolve Therapeutic Children’s Services will be establishing its first therapeutic residential children’s home. Our exceptional residential service will also provide education, forest schooling, educational spaces and therapeutic treatment rooms, sensory spaces, which will provide an all-inclusive, safe, and nurturing environment in which children and young people can begin to heal from their trauma and make sense of their world.
Staffing ratios will be on a 1:1 basis, with additional clinical support from internal Clinical Psychologists, and Psychotherapists. Our care, treatment and education staff will receive clinical training, and have access to fortnightly reflective practice.
Our trauma-informed Residential Services aim to ensure our children are well looked after and that their needs are attended to throughout their stays with us. Receiving unrivalled access to our Therapeutic consultants provides children with the best possible care in a safe and loving environment.

Qualifications and Training:
Evolve are committed to the learning and development of its staff and full comprehensive training will be offered to all new starters. There will be an intensive induction period. During your 6 month probationary period you are expected to complete your induction, after which there will be the opportunity to complete level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People, which is a statutory requirement, those seeking to progress into managerial roles will have access to the level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.
Evolve's residential staff will have weekly training sessions and courses, delivered by a mixture of internal and external agencies as well as regular access to both supervision and reflective spaces. Evolve group services are proud to boast an in-house Clinical Service named Connect b4 Correct whom we will work closely with to ensure our training package is catered to our specific young people and staff group.
All staff members undertake appropriate Safeguarding training starting at basic induction and including refresher training at regular intervals. The training includes an awareness regarding CSE and the radicalisation of children and young people, regular refreshers provide a continued update to reflect changes in guidance, policy, and legislation.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
1. To ensure that the children and young people’s physical, emotional, social needs are met in a loving, safe, secure, nurturing, and supportive environment.
2. To ensure that Evolve maintain accurate records for the children and young people through use of our recording procedures and platforms.
3. To contribute to the all-round daily care of the children and young people. This requires you to work as a part of a team, including multi-agency working.
4. To work with our delivery partners to ascertain the young peoples individualised needs, support in the preparation and writing of supporting documentation.
5. To be an effective, aspirational, hands on member of the homes staff group.
6. Be a key part of the children and young people’s lives, sharing hobbies, interests and supporting all aspects of their life including, activities, education, contact and be confident to provide guidance and advice. You are a role model.
7. Share immediately with the homes management any concerns regarding any practice, care or suspicions you have. We promote an open culture.
8. Be flexible and available to support the young people and your colleagues.
9. To keep up to date with training, coursework developments in the profession, by reading professional journals and other relevant publications.
10. To communicate professionally and effectively with children and families, other team members, courts, and professionals from statutory and voluntary sector agencies and private sector organisations as and when needed.
11. To maintain a knowledge of legislation, policy and practice procedures relating to children and young people within Evolve, including Data Protection Act, Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation, ensuring appropriate security and confidentiality of information in relation to records maintained and tasks undertaken.
12. Be available to attend weekly Staff Team Meetings and development, reflective practice meetings, get together meetings, support the young people to attend and contribute to their meetings. This includes CIC reviews, PEPs, EHCP and Therapy reviews.

Hours:
In order to provide appropriate care to our children and young people, a shift pattern is worked out providing 24 hour support. Staff are required to work some unsociable hours, including evenings, bank holidays, weekends and other times of the year including Christmas and New Year. The average hours are 40 per week, plus sleeping in duties once or twice a week. More than 8 sleep ins per month are paid at £60 per sleep in. Staff are required to work additional hours when required to meet the needs of the community and will be offered time off in lieu if their hours are higher than an average of 40 hours.
Hours and sleep ins completed will be reviewed and either renumerated or time off in lieu given on a three month basis.
Annual Leave:
The post attracts 30 holiday days per year (April to March) plus an additional day for your birthday. In order to provide stability and predictability for the children, holidays are booked in advance and require approval from your line manager. Holidays are not approved during key times for the community such as over Christmas or during the community holiday. Exceptional cases will be considered by the Director and HR.
Pension Scheme:
You will be automatically enrolled onto the Evolve group services Pension Scheme pension, offered by Nest. Evolve will pay 3% and your contributions will be 5%. These contributions are as set by legislation. Cases can be discussed with the Finance Group Manager and is on an individual basis.
Accountability:
Every member of the organisation has a duty to report Safeguarding/Child Protection concerns to their line manager or the community designated safeguarding lead. Immediate steps must be taken to prevent the child from harm or further harm. These should be agreed with the most senior person available. It is the responsibility of the Registered Manager or Responsible Person (or the designated safeguarding lead) to inform statutory agencies who may instigate a Child Protection investigation. This will include the child’s social worker and parents; the police as necessary; safeguarding Children Board’s MASH team within the host authority.
The ongoing training, supervision, and consultancy sessions work together to ensure that all Evolve's employees are clear about their responsibility to work together to safeguard children. These systems ensure that all remain aware of policy and practice areas which impact on our shared ability to safeguard children. All staff are reminded that they must remain alert to the potential indicators of abuse or neglect, including within the home from colleagues or other young people.
