Senior Security Engineer (Cyber Threat Intelligence) - Hybrid

Hours: 35 hours per week - we are open to a range of flexible working arrangements including compressed hours.

Reports to: Lead Security Architect
Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, with hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester, and Oxford.

Cyber Security at Jisc:
The security team at Jisc protects UK Education and Research against a wide range of cyber security threats.
About the Role:
Working within the Architecture and Engineering team, you will be responsible for the development of the threat intelligence platforms that drive the protective elements of our Security Centre.
Responsibilities:
* Working with threat development and platform teams to securely deploy and manage the threat estate.
* Developing and maintaining platforms and their applications to support the cyber security division.
* Monitoring the security status of the services and infrastructure, identifying and mitigating potential security vulnerabilities.
* Developing and maintaining documentation in accordance with Jisc and the cyber security division standards.
* Acting as the point of escalation for users and services hosted on this infrastructure.
* Continual improvement of current and future technologies to meet the needs of the business and our members.
Key Skills and Experience:
Need to have:
* Experience in a security-centric role; experience in a software engineering role is a plus.
* Demonstrable experience in designing and deploying technical solutions.
* Knowledge of IaaS, SaaS, and Linux server administration.
* Experience in administering common web server technologies (including MySQL, PostgreSQL, PHP, Ruby, Java, Python).
* Experience with automating systems and processes.
* Good analytical skills and the ability to work on multiple projects under strict timelines.
* Strong communication skills to discuss complex technical topics with diverse audiences.
Nice to have:
* Threat intelligence, SIEM, and SOAR qualifications or equivalent.
* Understanding of legislation relevant to incident response, network monitoring, and investigations.
* Knowledge or experience of working with enterprise private, hybrid, and public cloud technologies.
All roles within our Jisc Cyber Security team require enhanced background screening checks, and this role may require government security clearance to SC level.
