Power Systems Design Lead
Salary: up to £65,000 per annum dependent upon experience + 10% bonus
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Power Systems Design Lead. The role can be based in either Chelmsford or Cowes (Isle of Wight) and offers the opportunity for hybrid working (2- 3 days per week on site) and flexible working hours.
This role has the potential to span across teams delivering to customers in both the UK and Export market, from early stage technology development through to supporting a fleet of in-service systems.
Design of AC & DC power generation and distribution systems including sizing, protection, control, and the specification of power supplies and converters. This covers design and/or specification of an electrical supply system from 440V AC to circuit board voltage rails
* EMC management and verification
* Specification of bespoke procured hardware and management of associated sub-contractor development programmes
* Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC test houses and customer installations
* Generate design documentation and technical reports
* Adherence to Engineering Lifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and design reviews
* Provide Electrical Engineering expertise to the project team

The role holder will have a degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or strongly related subject, and have experience in one or more of the following areas :-
* Specification or design of electrical power systems including AC to DC conversion, distribution, regulation and conditioning including linear and switch-mode supplies
* Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards, and ideally EMC qualification to DEF STAN 59-411
* Design proving, integration, and defect resolution
* You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
