The role includes employees on the traditional training contract. We will provide the trainee solicitor with the training, guidance and experience necessary to enable him/her to develop the key skills and expertise required to be an outstanding solicitor.

Responsibilities:
* Legal and procedural knowledge.
* Proof reading.
* Advocacy and presentational skills.

* To become confident in dealing with clients and other professionals and to learn the ability quickly to earn the trust of clients and others in all dealings.
* To provide a valuable contribution to the work of each department within both contentious and non-contentious work types, to which the trainee has been allocated a seat, to assist each training principal with his or her daily workload and to provide practice support both departmentally and generally within the Firm.
* Comply with the procedures and standards set out in the Office Procedures Manual and with any and all relevant or appropriate professional and training standards, keeping a proper record of work done and training received.
* Carry out all reasonable instructions from senior staff promptly and enthusiastically.
* Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision, in particular:
o Generation of suitable correspondence.
o Making attendance notes.
o Drafting contract and Court documentation.
o Court attendance at routine directions/interlocutory hearings.
o Statutory and regulatory filings.
o Proof reading.
o Internal filings for monetary transactions.
o Land Registry applications, searches and requisitions.
o SDLT applications.
o Client interaction, remote and in person.
o Research.
o Deal wherever possible with routine client and third party enquiries and communications.
o Manage the collation of matter start and matter completion data.
o Deputise for principals in their absence, passing urgent issues to another senior fee earner for guidance.
o Co-ordination of the key date reminder system as outlined in the Office Procedures Manual.
o Ensure that client matter files are kept up to date with correspondence and documents.
o Participate in the Firm’s marketing and networking strategies as directed.
o Shared general administrative duties undertaken with other trainees on a rotational basis.
Skills
* LLB or LLM qualified.
* Familiarity with legal terms and documents. Familiar with completing forms or orders on the internet.
* Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good IT skills and knowledge of office systems and procedures and file management.
* Ability to work under pressure and to deliver to tight deadlines.
* Experience of organising workloads to achieve priorities and objectives.
* Experience of running a case load.
* Proactive and professional approach to role and a strong team player.
* Attention to detail and ability to produce work that is accurate.
* Ability to work with little supervision and to seek help when needed.
* Pleasant and positive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients.
We look carefully at each candidate's academic background. Solicitors need a high degree of technical ability to be successful, we feel academic ability is closely linked to this. This is why we have a minimum academic requirement that all trainees are expected to meet or exceed:
* 120 UCAS points from your best three A-Levels or equivalent to BBB
* A strong 2:1 degree (any degree subject)
* A Commendation (or above) at Law School (GDL and/or LPC)
