New Oakland Family Centers provides comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse services for consumers across Michigan, in both outpatient and partial hospitalization settings.
Location: Southgate
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, 8:30 am-5 pm or other full-time equivalent.
Reports To: Director of Nursing / Site Director / Site Supervisors / Regional Nursing Supervisors
Compensation: Hourly Employee; $17-$18/hour. Commensurate with experience.
Position Summary: The Medical Assistant/Receptionist is a full-time or part-time position comprised of multiple clinical and administrative duties for the FACE to FACE Partial Hospitalization and Outpatient Programs. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will work closely with consumers and both clinical and administrative staff across all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties / Functions:
* Assists in site screening procedures when needed.
* Answers phones in a polite and professional manner and relays messages accurately and timely.
* Schedules, reschedules, and confirms appointments.
* Assists in the process of opening and closing the office.
* Collects and records patient payments.
* Ensures that all consumers receive, complete, and fill out intake paperwork.
* Obtains vital signs (BP, HR, Wt and Ht) for consumers as directed and documents findings appropriately.
* Assists in confirming, obtaining, and updating consents and other required documentation for lab work, including lab requisition forms, transportation team and other internal and external entities.
* Assists with lab specimen collection (urine only).
* Assists nurse with maintaining first aid kits and medication sample inventory.
* Possesses the ability to resolve crisis situations appropriately.
* Assists nurse and prescriber with Telehealth processes.
* Completes documentation and training as required by the clinic’s policies/procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Staff are to dress professionally at all times per the Employee Handbook. Staff will need to be prepared to be actively involved with consumers.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma and one to two years of relevant experience required. Relevant coursework and/or certifications preferred. Must possess strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Proficiency in typing at a speed sufficient to handle job responsibilities efficiently is required.
