Reporting to the Director of New Homes and Corporate Landlord, the Assistant Director Corporate Asset Management will be the lead advisor for all non-social housing and commercial property responsibilities and will also provide commercial expertise and resource related to our residential portfolio. About Islington
Islington is a thriving inner London borough, rich in diversity and culture. However, too many of our residents are living in poverty, or experiencing inequalities and poorer outcomes. As a council we are determined to tackle this. Our Islington Together 2030 Plan sets out a bold vision for working together with our diverse communities to create a more equal future, underpinned by five key missions. And sitting alongside the 2030 Plan, we have just formally approved a new Strategic Asset Management Plan which sets out how we will use our assets to support and enable delivery of the overall vision and the five corporate missions.
It is an exciting time to join one of the best councils in the country. Islington is led by fantastic members and officers, passionate about making Islington a more equal place, whilst embodying our CARE values: Collaborative, Ambitious, Resourceful, and Empowering.
The successful applicant
We are looking for someone who has a substantial track record as a property leader, well versed in all aspects of commercial property management; able to get the best from your internal team and external consultants. A corporate membership and professional qualification is essential; and you will need to be politically astute and comfortable achieving successful outcomes in a political environment.
Ideally you will have managed large and complex projects, be familiar with concerto or other CAFM systems, and be familiar with local authority corporate landlord models.
We need a passionate property lead, who can take the corporate landlord model to the next level and ensure that the council benefits from the maximised returns from the estate – both in terms of commercial and social value - and is protected from any liabilities.
Working for us
In addition to a generous salary, you will have access to a generous annual leave allowance, starting at 31 days and increasing to 36 days leave per year after five years of local government service.
Islington Council adopts a hybrid approach to working, in order to promote and sustain a good work-life balance. For this leadership post you would be expected to be in as and when required to complete your role. Three days a week in the office and two days home working is the adopted hybrid approach for the senior leaders at the council.
