This job advert is for Need to Know, a new business that we launched in 2023. Need to Know is an early talent careers platform, with an Instagram-native news media brand as its entry point. We meet 15-21 year olds through school recommendation and on social channels — helping them understand what’s happening in the world, what causes they’re motivated by, and directing them to our careers platform to discover careers they can care about. We’re looking for a graduate-level hybrid Junior Editor / Community Manager, working on a freelance basis, to help us create content and grow our audience. You will will be responsible for: Writing content for N2K Posting on N2K's Instagram account Working with editors to encourage community engagement and grow our audience Monitoring and responding to comments and feedback Sourcing and interviewing people for N2K’s Spotlight series Creating content based on current social media trends Writing engaging captions Analyse our social media analytics and use it to advise on content You'll need to be: Passionate about changing news media, including new platforms and modes of storytelling Open to writing in different styles and tones of voice Confident in sharing your ideas within a tight-knit and supportive team A social media enthusiast Knowledgable about Gen Z trends and interests An excellent communicator and open to writing in different tones of voice Visually literate — words and pictures carry equal weight in online storytelling and we need someone who understands how both interact An excellent team player — we are a small team so you should be open to taking on ad hoc tasks not included in the job description In return you’ll get the opportunity to work with a group of award-winning journalists and editors with decades of experience between them and be given the freedom to make your mark on an exciting new platform.
