Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join the North Somerset CAMHS. We are a friendly and innovative service looking to welcome a new Assistant Psychologist with experience of working with children and young people. This post is 3 days a week. 22.5 hours Main duties of the job The post holder will be a member of North Somerset CAMHS multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be allocated a Clinical Psychologist as a supervisor and supported in developing skills needed for a career in the NHS. The post holder will work within the core team, supporting assessments and treatment alongside other team members. There will be an opportunity to develop an understanding of evidenced based treatments for disorders and to be part of treatment teams for young people and their families. There will also be an opportunity to support the running of groups. The post holder will support the team by developing information packs, undertaking evaluations and audits to inform service development. The post holder will be offered supervision specific to Core CAMHS. In addition they will be given opportunities to engage in a small amount of clinical work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. This could include individual work with young people and families, conducting psychometric assessments, supporting the running of groups and helping with intensive work required in some Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). The Post Holder will be required to hold a good BSc Psychology degree which conveys Graduate Basis for Recognition. Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties and their families is essential. Clinical experience as an assistant psychologist or other applied psychology is desirable but not essential.
