Job Description: Senior Control Systems Engineer

Due to growth and planned expansion into new territories and technologies, we are now looking to add talent to our existing team.
Working closely with sales, design and production, the role will involve the design, development, and maintenance of PLC control systems, PC based software, and electronics for PVD, CVD and etch systems.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative team-worker with good communication skills, adaptable, have good fault-finding abilities, an understanding of, ideally, experience within the scientific systems sector (but this is not essential).
Objectives of Job:
1. Support Test and Service Engineers with factory and site acceptance testing.
2. Maintain records for traceability of changes.
3. Support/mentor junior Engineers in the software and electronics department.
4. Ensure systems function safely through appropriate design of hardware and software interlocks.
5. Maintenance of existing production systems software.
6. Debugging control systems (hardware and software) both in-house and for customers where required.
7. Working on new product development.
8. Using best practice and hands-on experience to drive continuous improvement for our control systems.
Key Skills & Accountabilities:
1. 2+ years’ experience working on scientific equipment control systems or industrial automation systems of a bespoke nature.
2. Theoretical and technical knowledge of electronics and electrical interfaces – analogue and digital.
3. Experience with C#, VB.NET and PLC programming languages.
4. Ability to create high quality support & test documentation.
5. A positive, self-motivated approach.
6. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
7. Excellent problem solving and fault-finding ability.
8. Ability to manage own time effectively and meet deadlines.
9. Production of software.
10. Software Version Control.
11. Software Design Verification.
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience.
